PET / ANIMAL PORTRAITS
Pets are such important parts of our families - we celebrate their birthdays, sign their names in greeting cards, tell them our problems, and rearrange our homes and lives for them - and the mutual love we share with them is something truly special. I help pet owners create lasting visual memories of their furry family members through portraits of their pets as well as images that show that unique connection.

Also, while nobody likes to think about the fact that our pets typically have a shorter lifespan than we do, they do. And things can change quickly - something I sadly know all too well myself. Memories of all the fun you had together become even more important, and clients have contacted me years after a photo session saying how thankful they are that they invested in professional portraits of their pets.

I work with all animals, including (but not limited to) dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, horses and (pet) farm animals. My goal is not just to take cute pictures of your animals, but ones that really let their personalities shine through.

Pet Portrait Photo Sessions
A typical pet portrait photo session lasts around 2 hours. I meet you and your pet(s) at a location of your choice - your home, barn, a favorite park, beach etc., and I like to first spend some time getting to know your pets a little bit so that they are comfortable having me around. With dogs, when I’m ready to start shooting, I’ll ask you to play like you normally do (throw a ball, play chase, do tricks, etc.) or just let him/her romp around. If you prefer a more posed style (with or without yourself and other family members), I’m happy to do that as well. Most sessions end up being a little bit of both.

With other animals, I like to let them go about their daily life while I take portraits, and I usually also take some that are more studio-shot style. When working with animals, the sessions tend to take on a life of their own, and I try to not plan too much ahead of time but rather go with the flow and let the animals  direct me.

I prefer to shoot outside, using natural light and settings, but with indoor cats and other animals that don’t venture outdoors, we will work together to find good spots in your home or barn.

Pricing
The base price for a pet portrait photo session is $275. This includes up to 2 hours of shooting time, travel within a 30-mile radius of Somerville, MA, and a personal password-protected online gallery of fully edited images.

The price is for a one or two-pet household. Additional pets (from the same household) are $25 per animal, and an additional travel fee of $1/mile is added for sessions farther away. A deposit of 50% of the fee is due at the time of booking to reserve the time, and the remainder at the end of the photo session.

Cancellations
Cancellations and re-scheduling must be done at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session. There is a $50 charge for cancellations within 24 hours of our appointment. Deposits are forfeited for no-shows.

Bad weather policy
To ensure quality pictures, we will need to reschedule outdoor photo sessions in times of rain and/or heavy falling snow. A light flurry or the presence of snow on the ground is not a problem. Cold temperatures (which can affect the functionality of the camera as well as the comfort of the animals) will be discussed as necessary.

ANIMAL BUSINESS PHOTOGRAPHYBusiness cards

We humans are all drawn to visual content - there is a reason Pinterest is the fastest growing social media site today, and while it may be a cliché, a picture is indeed worth a thousand words.

Whether your business is dog walking, animal massage, making collars and leashes, providing mobile veterinary services or coaching agility teams, including pictures of you and what you do in your printed and online marketing materials not only helps to attract more customers, it also makes people connect to you and identify your brand / product / service with the person behind it (you!).

If you have an animal-related business and would like to schedule a session to create photos for your marketing materials, please contact me.

RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS / SHELTERS / ANIMAL SANCTUARIES

As much as I wish I could, I am not in a position to adopt all homeless animals in the country, but what I CAN do is take pictures that show them at their best.

Experience in shelters across the country has shown that when you post professional photos of animals available for adoption on your website / blog / newsletter etc., applications double or even triple. And including appealing pictures of animals in your fundraising materials can greatly help these efforts as well.

These photo sessions are free of charge and after the shoot, I set up an online gallery where you can select the photos you think will work best for your organization.
